The Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design at Bartın University (BARU) showcased its sustainable solutions for climate change adaptation and resilience at the “Climate Change Adaptation Grant Program – Grant Component Fair and Information Meeting” held in Ankara.

Assoc. Prof. Ersin Alaybeyoğlu and Assist. Prof. Ercan Gemici represented our faculty by presenting the outcomes of the project “Climate Change Adaptation Strategies; Reducing Flood and Water Scarcity Risks in Bartın (BİRUS)”, carried out under the leadership of BARU in partnership with Bartın Municipality and Bartın Special Provincial Administration.

At the exhibition booth, the scientific studies conducted by our faculty attracted great interest. Among the highlighted activities were:

  • Development of a “Flood Early Warning System” for the Bartın River Basin,

  • Mapping and planning studies to produce strategies for climate change adaptation,

  • Pilot applications of rainwater harvesting and green roof systems,

  • Awareness-raising meetings to inform and engage the community.

As a good practice example, the green roof implementations at BARU Kutlubey Campus Central Library and Bartın 140th Year Park were introduced as sustainable urban solutions.

The program concluded with the presentation of a plaque of achievement to Bartın University for its visionary contributions and successful project implementations in the field of climate change adaptation.
