Graduates of the Department of Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design, Burak Erken and Hamza Ketenci, achieved 6th place in Türkiye as members of the LookSina-i team in the University and Above Category of the TEKNOFEST 2026 Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Competition, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eyüp Burak Ceyhan.

Organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Türkiye and the Health Institutes of Türkiye (TÜSEB), the TEKNOFEST Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Competition aims to encourage the development of artificial intelligence and innovative technologies in the field of healthcare.

As part of the competition, the LookSina-i team developed an AI-supported solution designed to assist in the evaluation of genetic variants associated with diseases. Using clinical genomic data, the project focuses on assessing the pathogenicity of genetic variants and demonstrates the potential use of artificial intelligence technologies in healthcare.

Having successfully advanced to the finals, the team completed the competition in 6th place in Türkiye with their project.

The name “LookSina-i” was inspired by two prominent figures in the history of medicine, Ibn Sina (Avicenna) and Lokman Hekim. The team name represents their vision of bringing together the deep-rooted medical knowledge of the past with today’s artificial intelligence technologies.
