BARÜ went to the region to analyze the "disaster of the century.”

Bartın University (BARÜ) went to the region to analyze the structural changes in buildings, highways, government main roads, and bridges following the Kahramanmaraş-based earthquakes.

Dr. Selçuk Baş working at Bartın University (BARÜ) at the Faculty of Engineering in the department of Architecture and Design Department of Civil Engineering went to the region within the scope of Tubitak 1002-C “ Natural Disasters Focused Field Study Emergency Support Program". Assoc. Prof. Dr. Baş made analyses on the Kahramanmaraş-based earthquakes that have deeply affected our country. In doing so, he attempted to find out the dimension of damage and carried out structural assessments of bridges on highways and main roads located in disaster-affected areas. As part of another project, he also prepared a report by considering the buildings in the region.

In addition, Res. Ass. from the Department of Civil Engineering of BARU named  Yaşar Erbaş  worked as a researcher in the project titled "Investigation of Corner Collapse Mechanism and Major Damage Modes of Damaged Masonry Structures in Malatya Province in the February 6, 2023 Earthquake"
