Bartın University (BARU) has achieved a significant global success in the ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2025. The Department of Civil Engineering has been ranked within the 301–400 band worldwide and placed 3rd in Türkiye, marking an important milestone for our faculty.
Recognized as one of the most comprehensive and objective global evaluations of universities’ scientific contributions in specific academic fields, the GRAS ranking covers 57 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. The 2025 edition includes nearly 2,000 universities from 92 countries and regions. Institutions are assessed based on research output, research influence, research quality, and international collaboration.
Among the Turkish universities included in the ranking, BARU secured the 3rd position in the field of Civil Engineering, following İstanbul Technical University and Middle East Technical University, sharing this rank with two other institutions. This achievement highlights the research strength, international visibility, and academic productivity of our faculty.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya expressed his satisfaction with BARU’s growing recognition in international rankings and stated:
