Bartın University was represented at the “Global Zero Waste Forum 2025,” held in Istanbul on October 17–19, 2025, under the auspices of the Zero Waste Foundation and in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye. The University’s Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design was represented by Dr. Niyazi Erdem DELİKANLI from the Department of Environmental Engineering.

The Forum hosted multi-stakeholder sessions on topics such as waste prevention, reuse, circular production and consumption, food loss and waste reduction, sustainable finance, and smart cities.

Throughout the event, opening plenary sessions as well as panels featuring representatives from policy-making bodies, local governments, the private sector, and civil society were held. Dr. Delikanlı introduced Bartın University’s initiatives focused on environment and sustainability within his professional network and engaged in discussions to adapt best practices shared in sessions on circular economy, digitalization in waste management, reuse ecosystems, and behavioral change in waste reduction to the University’s context.

During the Forum, information exchange was carried out with national and international institutions, and communication channels were established for future collaboration and experience sharing. The key messages and best practice packages shared at the closing of the program will be evaluated within the scope of Bartın University’s sustainability goals, with internal stakeholder meetings planned at the Faculty level.
